These are the top 5 video games you should try! Video games have been a big part of my life, but now I have five children, so now I only have time to write about them. The thing about video games is that it’s more than just a game; it’s a form of communication and community. In 1991 the internet was released to the public; that was the year I was born. When I played video games, it was only with my brother, cousins, and friends that came over; as time progressed, they became more addictive, and I found myself playing by myself. After they added the internet to the mix to challenge anyone at any time, it made the gaming industry and community extremely competitive. These are my top picks based on personal preference that I believe you should try!

APEX LEGENDS:

Apex Legends is honestly underrated; the fact there are still people out there that think the game “isn’t good” blows me away but it definitely makes it into the Top 5 Video Games you should try list. Apex is by FAR the smoothest game I have ever played. Although there are always some kinks and glitches, for the most part, it’s fair play all the way. If you enjoy competition, you can join ranked. Apex Legends has all the neat concepts, visual effects, and creative characters and guns. When you are in an intense gunfight that doesn’t seem to end, you feel the adrenaline surge through you, telling you to win. They have cool character and gun skins you can unlock and new game concepts that you can play. They change the game up, and you can be playing an entirely new type of game. Apex gives you the ability to use insane character abilities, giving you some fantastic visual effects. Each character has a unique ability that benefits the team in some way.      

CALL OF DUTY – WARZONE:

Call of Duty: Warzone is again another underrated game. I want to say the game’s fluidity is similar to apex, but they are two completely different games. You are in the modern world, and you have a squad and a map. At the beginning of the game, you are in a plane flying over the battlefield. You and your team then decide where to go. When you land, you have nothing but a pistol. It takes some real skill to get kills at the beginning of the game. The nice thing about this game is when you die; you have a second chance to win. When you die, you get captured and put into “The Gulag.” The Gulag is a prison where you fight other down players; if you win, you spawn back into the map in a parachute; if you fail, the game is over for you and your team. This game is a must-try!    

BORDERLANDS 3:

Borderlands 3 is an enjoyable game and this reason it makes it into the top 5 video games you should try list is, whether you play by yourself or playing with a group of friends. I have been a fan of Borderlands since the very first Borderlands 1. You are in this chaotic world where you are fighting different aliens and men who have lost their minds. The game’s objective is to find a Vault before two evil twins that want to wield power inside. The storyline takes you on these missions were, in the end, you fight bosses. While you play the game, you get to find loot that makes your character stronger. Each character has a unique special ability. 

FORTNITE:

Fortnite is a controversial game I like and dislike. The PVP can be fun, but there are some people out there that make this game horrible. These people could be trolls, “Screechers,” little kids screaming or crying in their mic, or just skilled people with no life. I don’t think I have ever played a game that has given me so much anxiety based on the community that plays it. It’s as if every mentally immature person is a magnet to this game, but it is a fun game. It is a battle royale, just like Apex Legends and Warzone. Honestly, Fortnite Save the World was my favorite out of Fortnite. Fortnite Save the World is a PVE game where you fight ZOMBIES!   

Black Ops Zombies is another favorite of mine, but any zombie game I like. Basically, in Fortnite, save the world; you can build prominent forts. After creating these HUGE forts, you protect them from waves of zombies that attack them. This game reminds me of an Arcade Game, and it gives me that feeling when I was a kid playing them, and it’s enlightening being able to mow down zombies with a Gatling gun and a homemade fort with turrets and soldiers protecting it. 

THE LAST OF US PART 1 & 2:

The Last of us Part 1 & 2 is one adrenalin rush after another. This game reminds me of the TV show “The Walking Dead,” but ten times more intense and ten times better, honestly. All the people who developed and created the storyline for this game should have been the “The Walking Dead” directors. Part 1, you are mainly playing as a girl, trying to get somewhere because she believes she has the cure. Along the journey, you run into raiders and zombies who try to kill and eat you. In part 2, you play as different characters, but the main storyline is Ellie from Part 1 getting revenge for something that has happened. This game sometimes makes you whisper in real life while you are playing.
